Whole Grain Porridge in a Slow Cooker

- Barley ¾ cup
- Oat Groats ¾ cup
- Cornmeal ½ cup
- Unrefined Sugar 3 tablespoons
- Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon stick 1 piece
- Salt to taste
- Nuts to taste
- Dried Fruits to taste
- Milk to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
To prepare the whole grain porridge, mix all the listed ingredients (except those intended for serving) in the slow cooker. Cover the slow cooker with a lid and let it cook overnight (or for at least 8 hours).
Step 2
In the morning, set the slow cooker to the high setting and cook the porridge until the grains are softened, about 2 hours. Stir the porridge once, approximately one hour after cooking begins.
Step 3
When serving, add milk to the porridge and garnish to your liking with fresh fruits, dried fruits, or nuts.
