Rinse the wheat groats, pour boiling water over them, and let them sit for 3 hours.

Then drain the water, pour 4 cups of boiling water over the groats, and cook for 25–30 minutes on high heat in a covered pot with a steam vent in the lid.
Step 3
Season the cooked porridge with salt and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.
