  • Long-Grain Rice ½ cup
  • Saffron 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable Oil 3 tablespoons
  • Ground clove 6 pieces
  • Cardamom 6 pieces
  • Cinnamon 1 piece
  • Raisins ½ cup
  • Sugar 3 tablespoons
  • Fresh Mint to taste
  • Honey to taste
  • Salt to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Rinse the rice and soak it in 2.5 cups of water.

Step 2

Pour 3 tablespoons of boiling water over the saffron and let it steep for 5 minutes.

Step 3

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat the oil, add the cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon, and sauté for 1 minute.

Step 4

Drain the rice in a colander, do not discard the soaking water.

Step 5

Add the rice to the pot, sauté for 2–3 minutes until golden, pour in the soaking water, add the saffron water, raisins, sugar, and salt.

Step 6

Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and cook covered on low heat for 12–15 minutes.

Step 7

Serve the finished porridge in individual bowls, drizzle with liquid honey, and garnish with mint leaves.
