Description

I want to add that you can certainly just boil the cauliflower, but steamed vegetables are incomparable to boiled ones. They are much tastier, sweeter, and undoubtedly healthier. I use an authentic Chinese bamboo steamer. I make the croutons from good ciabatta, which I dry out and chop in a food processor. I keep them in the freezer and use them as needed, which is very rarely and mainly for cauliflower. I don't bread anything else. It turns out very crunchy and delicious.

Ingredients

  • Breadcrumbs 5 oz
  • Cauliflower 1 head
  • Garlic 2 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Cut the cauliflower into large florets (that's how I like it anyway) and place it in the steamer.

Step 2

Steam until al dente for about 10–15 minutes (depending on the size of the pieces).

Step 3

While it cooks, heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan, add your favorite breadcrumbs (see note) and fry until golden brown.

Step 4

When they are almost ready, add 1–2 cloves of minced garlic, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 5

Sprinkle the cauliflower with the croutons and serve (more croutons, please!).
