Steamed artichokes with garlic and butter
Ingredients
- Artichokes 5 oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Lemon 1 piece
- Clarified Butter 5 fl oz
- Garlic 1 clove
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut the stems of the artichokes, leaving about 1.5 cm. Remove the brown leaves, then cut off the top quarter of the artichoke; discard. You can remove the thorns with kitchen scissors.
Step 2
Bring 2 liters of water to a boil in a large pot. Place a steamer basket in the pot and arrange the artichokes inside; season with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Cover with a lid and steam for 70-80 minutes until the hearts are tender and the leaves can be easily pulled out. Remove from heat; drizzle with lemon juice.
Step 4
In a small bowl, mix the butter with the garlic, season with salt and pepper. Serve with the artichokes.
