Description

If you have favorite spices or dried herbs, you can rub them on the fish, which will give it a beautiful crust when frying and infuse the fish with your favorite aromas. Enjoy your meal!

Ingredients

  • Salmon 1 piece
  • Lemon 1 piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Bay leaf 5 pieces
  • Olive Oil 0 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Prepare the fish (any red fish: salmon, trout, chum salmon, pink salmon...) by cutting it into portion-sized pieces and removing the backbone. The pieces should be about 2.5–3 cm thick.

Step 2

Place the fish in a bowl in a single layer, season with salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle with olive oil (about half), lemon juice (the amount of juice depends on your preference — if you want a strong lemon flavor, use a couple of lemons) and rub each piece of fish well. The olive oil will bind all the flavors and infuse the fish.

Step 3

Place bay leaves between the pieces of fish and let it sit for 10–15 minutes.

Step 4

In a skillet (preferably a grill pan), pour in a little olive oil (if using a regular skillet, the oil should completely cover the bottom, but do not pour in too much). When the oil is well heated, place the fish in the pan.

Step 5

Fry on each side for about 2–3 minutes.

Step 6

The cooked fish can be drizzled with lemon juice if desired. Alternatively, serve with a wedge of lemon or lime.
