Description

Potato pancakes with cheese (egg-free)

Ingredients

  • Potatoes 6 pieces
  • Cheese 0 oz
  • Wheat Flour 2½ tablespoons
  • Coarse Salt 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric 1 teaspoon
  • Ground Black Pepper 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable Oil to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Peel the potatoes and grate them on a coarse (or finer) grater. Sprinkle with salt (to help the potatoes release their juice).

Step 2

In another bowl, grate the cheese.

Step 3

Combine the potatoes and cheese, sift the flour on top, and mix. Add the spices (I used ground fragrant black pepper, which is not spicy, so you can add more for aroma). Mix everything well.

Step 4

Heat a skillet (I use a non-stick one, so I fry without oil). Form small 'pancakes', making sure they are not thick, about 0.7 cm high, otherwise they won't cook through. Fry on low heat on one side (until the edges lighten) for about 3 minutes, flip and fry on the other side for another 2 minutes.
