Potato Casserole with Cheese
Main Dishes • Italian
Description
In Italy, this casserole is made with a hard cheese based on goat's milk—primarily Caciotta. However, you can use any other type of hard cheese.
Ingredients
- Potato 1½ kg
- Cheese Spread 5 oz
- Spanish onions 2 heads
- Chicken Broth 10 fl oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly. Do the same with the onion. Grate the cheese finely.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a ceramic baking dish with butter.
Step 3
Layer the potatoes in the dish, cover with a layer of onions, season, and sprinkle with cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of potatoes. Pour chicken broth over the top (it should reach the very top).
Step 4
Bake for an hour, until the potatoes are tender and golden brown. Flip them over, cut into pieces, and serve immediately.
