Ingredients
- Star anise 6 pieces
- Cinnamon 4 pieces
- Orange zest 0 oz
- Ginger 0 oz
- Soy Sauce 0 fl oz
- Mild Chili Spice 1 piece
- Chicken Broth 10 fl oz
- Rice Sweet Wine 10 fl oz
- Brown Sugar 5 oz
- Pork Neck 30 oz
- Plums 8 pieces
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 355°F.
Step 2
Slice the ginger into thick rounds and cut the chili pepper in half.
Step 3
Place a heavy-bottomed saucepan over heat and add ginger, chili, star anise, cinnamon, sugar, and orange zest.
Step 4
Pour in the soy sauce, broth, and wine, bring to a boil, and simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture slightly thickens.
Step 5
Line a deep baking dish with parchment paper.
Step 6
Place the pork in a baking dish and drizzle with the prepared syrup. Cover with a sheet of paper and foil, tightly sealing the edges, and bake in the oven for 1.5 hours.
Step 7
Turn the pork over, seal it again, and return it to the oven for another 1.5 hours.
Step 8
Cut the plums in half and remove the pits.
Step 9
After 3 hours of baking, remove the foil and paper cover from the baking tray, add the plums, and return it to the oven for another 15–25 minutes, until the meat is browned.
Step 10
Serve the pork with plums, placing it in a deep dish along with the sauce it was cooked in.
