Pilaf with Chicken and Saffron

Ingredients

  • Rice 1½ cups
  • Poultry 10 oz
  • Carrot 1 piece
  • Onion 1 piece
  • Garlic 2 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Saffron a pinch
  • Chicken Broth 3 cups
  • Vegetable Oil 3 tablespoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

First, prepare the ingredients. Finely chop the onion. Grate the carrot. Cut the pre-cooked chicken meat. Rinse the rice. Peel the garlic but do not chop.

Step 2

In a skillet (preferably with a thick bottom) with vegetable oil, add the onion and let it sauté for a couple of minutes, then add the chicken meat and fry for about 5 minutes. Add the carrot and let it cook for another 5 minutes.

Step 3

Add the rice to the skillet, stir, and let it simmer for 3–5 minutes. Add salt, pepper to taste, and saffron.

Step 4

Pour in the chicken broth, stir, place the whole garlic in the pilaf, and let it cook for 15 minutes without stirring (you can occasionally push the rice from the edges to the center with a spoon).

Step 5

Cook with the lid slightly open for about 5 minutes, then close the lid until fully cooked.
