Ingredients
- Ground Oats 5 oz
- Chicken Broth 30 fl oz
- Shallot 1 piece
- Butter 0 oz
- Garlic 2 cloves
- Thyme 2 sprigs
- Parsley 0 oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Olive Oil to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil, add the oats, and toast them for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Pour in half of the broth, bring to a boil, and simmer until the water level is even with the level of the oats.
Step 4
Cover with a lid and let sit for 20 minutes, or until the oats have absorbed all the broth.
Step 5
Finely chop the shallot.
Step 6
In another saucepan, heat the butter and sauté the shallot and whole garlic cloves until the shallot is translucent.
Step 7
Add the cooked oatmeal and stir.
Step 8
Pour in the broth, bring to a boil, and cook over medium heat, stirring, for 12–15 minutes, until the grains are cooked.
Step 9
Remove the garlic from the porridge, add the thyme leaves, finely chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to taste.
Step 10
Serve the porridge with a piece of butter.
