Moose Stew with Sour Cream
Main Dishes • European
Description
You can serve potatoes or pasta as a side dish.
Ingredients
- Moose meat 0 lbs
- Sour Cream 8 tablespoons
- Passata Tomato Sauce 8 tablespoons
- Onion 1 piece
- Garlic 1 clove
- Coarse Salt to taste
- Safflower Oil 1 tablespoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Soak the meat in cold water for a couple of hours (the darker the meat, the longer it should be soaked).
Step 2
Pat the meat dry with a paper towel and cut it into 2x2 cm pieces, 1 cm thick.
Step 3
Heat the sunflower oil in a skillet and add the moose meat, sauté briefly, then pour in cold water (enough to fully submerge the meat), and simmer for about an hour, remembering to skim off the foam.
Step 4
When most of the water has evaporated, add salt, tomato paste, and sour cream (calculating 4 tablespoons for every 0.5 kg). Add a little more water and continue to simmer.
Step 5
After a couple of minutes, add the finely chopped onion and the large clove of garlic.
Step 6
Simmer for another 20 minutes until cooked through.
