Montenegrin Mussels
Ingredients
- Mussels 35 oz
- Dry White Wine 5 fl oz
- Shallot 3 pieces
- Garlic 3 cloves
- Breadcrumbs 5 oz
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Olive Oil 4 tablespoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Thoroughly rinse the mussels, removing any debris (such as seaweed) from the shells. In a skillet, heat the olive oil (medium-high heat) and lightly sauté the shallots and garlic.
Step 2
Add the mussels to the pot, then pour in the white wine, season with pepper, but DO NOT SALT! Remember, the mussels are already in salty seawater, which they will cook in.
Step 3
The mussels will cook for approximately 5–6 minutes. During cooking, they should start to open, and water should flow out of them. Two minutes before they are done, sprinkle in the breadcrumbs.
