Meatloaf with Apples
Ingredients
- Beef 5 lbs
- Vegetable Oil 2 tablespoons
- Butter 3 tablespoons
- Dry White Wine 5 fl oz
- Green Apples 4 pieces
- Onion 1 piece
- Walnuts 5 oz
- Dried Chamomile to taste
- Salt to taste
- Fresh Mint 3 stems
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Wash the meat and make a cut along the fibers in the center. Cut each half across the fibers into two pieces. Make small cuts along the fibers all over the surface of the meat.
Step 2
Wash the meat and place it on a work surface. With a sharp knife, make a deep cut along the fibers in the center. Open the cut with your hands. Tenderize the meat.
Step 3
For the marinade, mix vegetable oil, 100 ml of wine, salt, pepper, and marjoram. Place the meat in the marinade and refrigerate overnight.
Step 4
Slice the onion into half-rings. Dice the peeled apples. Chop the walnuts and mint.
Step 5
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet and sauté the onion for 5 minutes, then add the apples, walnuts, and mint. Add the wine and simmer for another 3 minutes over low heat. Allow to cool.
Step 6
Remove the meat from the marinade and place it on a paper towel. Evenly spread the filling over the meat. Roll the meat into a loaf and tie it in several places with string. Brush with butter and place on a baking sheet.
Step 7
Bake in a preheated oven at 390°F for 1.5 hours. Baste with the juices released from the meat every half hour.
