Description

Meatloaf is an ancient dish: it was first mentioned in Roman chronicles in the 5th century. Due to its softness, it was considered suitable food for the elderly and people with bad teeth. Since dentistry as a public institution has only become widespread recently, meatloaf was an extremely popular dish. The base consists of ground meat and white bread, but there are variations that include vegetables mixed into the meat and whole eggs as filling.

Ingredients

  • Milk 5 fl oz
  • Pork Mince 0 lbs
  • White bread 5 oz
  • Chicken Egg 1 piece
  • Onion 2 heads
  • Parsley 0 oz
  • Nutmeg to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste

Trim the crusts off the bread.

Soak it in a deep bowl with milk. Leave it until the bread absorbs all the milk.

Finely chop the parsley.

Chop the onion.

Melt 30 grams of butter in a skillet.

Sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.

Combine the onion with the ground meat, bread, egg, and chopped parsley until well blended. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Grease a deep, narrow baking dish (similar to one used for baking bread) with butter. Using damp hands, place the meat into the dish.

Brush with melted butter and place in the oven preheated to 390°F for 30 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 150 degrees and let it bake for another 15 minutes.

Slice the cooked meatloaf into thick slices and serve with mashed potatoes and cherry sauce.
