Description

Leek Gratin with Asparagus and Mozzarella

Ingredients

  • Melted Cheese 20 oz
  • Leek 5 oz
  • Asparagus 5 oz
  • Garlic 3 cloves
  • Thyme 1 bunch
  • Olive Oil 5 tablespoons
  • Breadcrumbs 4 tablespoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Blanch the asparagus in boiling salted water for 4–5 minutes. Then drain in a colander and let the water drip off.

Step 2

Slice the leek lengthwise and wash it thoroughly to remove any sand. Cut it into thick rings; young leeks can be left whole.

Step 3

Sauté the asparagus with the leek on a well-heated grill or grill pan for 2–3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Cut larger asparagus spears lengthwise into 2–3 pieces.

Step 4

Slice the Mozzarella into rounds about 4–5 mm thick.

Step 5

Layer all the prepared ingredients in a baking dish greased with olive oil in any order. Sprinkle with finely chopped garlic, thyme leaves, breadcrumbs, and drizzle with olive oil. Bake in a preheated oven at 390°F for 17–20 minutes until golden brown.
