Main Dishes • Japanese
Description
For this dish, round-grain Japanese Nishiki rice is the most suitable. Jasmine rice can also be used.
Ingredients
- Boiled White Round Rice 1 glass
- Beef 15 oz
- Sweet Pepper 1 piece
- Cooked Ham 10 oz
- Chicken Egg 3 pieces
- Soy Sauce 5 fl oz
- Red Long Chili Peppers ¼ spoons
- Onion 2 pieces
- Cucumbers 2 pieces
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Rinse the rice several times with warm water until the water runs completely clear. Pour it into a pot, cover it with cold water so that it is fully submerged, and let it sit for 1.5 to 2 hours. Drain the water. Add 2 cups of fresh water to the rice, place it over high heat, and bring it to a boil. Lightly salt it, reduce the heat to the lowest setting, and cook until done, about 15 minutes. Remove the rice from the heat, cover it with a lid, and let it sit in a warm place.
Step 2
Transfer the eggs to a bowl, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Whisk until you achieve a smooth and fluffy mixture.
Step 3
Heat a skillet. Pour in 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil and warm it up, then add 0.5 ladle of the egg mixture. After 1 minute, flip the pancake to the other side and cook for another minute. Transfer the pancake to a plate.
Step 4
Bake thin pancakes from the prepared egg mixture. Allow them to cool, then cut into long strips.
Step 5
Peel the onion and slice it thinly into half-rings. Wash the pepper, cut it in half, remove the seeds, and slice the flesh into thin strips. Rinse the beef, pat it dry with paper towels, and cut it into thin, long pieces. In two pans, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in each. In one pan, sauté the onion with the sweet pepper for 6 minutes, and in the other pan, cook the beef for 9 minutes.
Step 6
Wash the cucumber and cut it into strips. Cut the ham in the same way. Add the sautéed onions, bell peppers, and beef to the rice. Incorporate the ham and strips of omelet, and mix well. Pour in the remaining soy sauce and season with spicy pepper. Add salt if necessary. Before serving, sprinkle with the chopped cucumber.
