Hedgehogs Made of Lentils and Rice
Ingredients
- Green Lentils 5 oz
- Round Rice ½ cup
- Carrots 2 pieces
- Tomato Paste 3 tablespoons
- Onion 1 piece
- Water 0 qt
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Sugar 1 teaspoon
- Ground Ginger ½ teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper ½ teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Soak the lentils overnight, then blend them in a blender until smooth in the morning. Cook the rice.
Step 2
Heat sunflower oil in a pan, add the spices. After 10 seconds, add the grated carrots and diced onion, and sauté for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Mix the lentils, rice, ½ teaspoon of salt, and half of the sautéed carrots and onions. Form the mixture into meatballs.
Step 4
In the pan with the remaining carrots and onions, add the tomato paste, ½ teaspoon of salt, sugar, and pour in the water. Bring to a boil. Cook the sauce for 5 minutes, then reduce the heat to low.
Step 5
Now add the 'hedgehogs' to the pan. The tops of the meatballs should not be covered with sauce. Cover with a lid and simmer for 10 minutes. Then uncover and spoon sauce over the tops of the 'hedgehogs' carefully to avoid damaging the meatballs, and simmer for another 10 minutes. Uncover again and spoon sauce over the tops. Cover the lid and simmer for the last 10 minutes. The total cooking time is 30 minutes.
