Ham with Green Beans
Main Dishes • American
Description
Instead of fresh green beans, you can use canned ones, but it is not recommended, as the beans need to absorb the fat and aroma of the smoked meat during cooking, and canned beans cannot withstand prolonged exposure to hot liquid.
Ingredients
- Smoked Ham on the Bone 15 oz
- Salt 2½ teaspoons
- Chinese green beans 0 lbs
- Ground Black Pepper 1 teaspoon
- Water 2½ liters
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Remove the ham from the pot and cut it into strips.
Step 2
Drain some of the broth from the pot with the beans, leaving about 200 ml of liquid. Mix the cut ham with the beans and the remaining broth directly in the pot. Season with salt and pepper to taste and gently heat.
Step 3
Serve in deep plates along with the broth as a sauce and garlic butter.
Step 4
Place a large piece of ham in a pot with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Season with salt and pepper, add fresh green beans, and continue to cook uncovered over medium heat for about 1 hour.
Step 5
When the beans are very soft, remove the pot from the heat, but do not drain the broth.
