- Chinese green beans 20 oz
- Sugar to taste

Step 1
Remove the strings from the pea pods and boil them in salted boiling water. To preserve their green color, cook in a wide open pot while maintaining a strong boil.
Step 2
Drain the cooked pods in a colander, let the water drain, then transfer to a pot and toss with butter and, if desired, sugar.
Step 3
For the green beans, remove the strings, cut them lengthwise or into diamond shapes, boil them just like the pea pods, and toss with butter, salt, and pepper.
