Goulash in a Bread Pot

Ingredients

  • Beef 30 oz
  • Onion 2 heads
  • Paprika 3 tablespoons
  • Salad Potatoes 30 oz
  • Carrot 1 piece
  • Tomatoes 2 pieces
  • Vegetable Oil 2 tablespoons
  • Orange Bell Peppers 1 piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Bay leaf 3 pieces
  • 8-Grain Roll 4 pieces

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

In a deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

Step 2

Cut the meat into 2 cm cubes. Add paprika to the onion, stir, and sauté for half a minute. Add the meat.

Step 3

When the juice released from the meat starts to boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer the meat in its own juice, adding boiling water, for 1 to 2 hours until tender. Add salt and ground pepper.

Step 4

Transfer the meat from the skillet to a pot, pour in 1 liter of boiling water, and place over high heat.

Step 5

Peel and chop the potatoes into large pieces. Slice the carrot into thin rounds. When the soup boils, add the potatoes and carrots.

Step 6

Bring to a boil again, reduce the heat, and cook for 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are done.

Step 7

Add the bell pepper, sliced into thin strips, the tomatoes peeled and diced, the bay leaf, and minced garlic. Cook for 5-7 minutes. Remove the bay leaf.

Step 8

Cut the tops off the toasted rolls to create lids. Remove the insides, leaving walls about 1-1.5 cm thick. Pour the goulash into the bread and serve immediately.
