Description
Few dishes are as popular as fried potatoes. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind: stir the potatoes less frequently, and before you start frying, soak the potatoes for half an hour to remove excess starch. All the details that will help you master the art of frying potatoes are in our recipe.
Ingredients
- Potato 30 oz
- Onion 1 head
- Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized pieces; it doesn't matter much whether they are sticks or wedges. The cooking time will vary depending on the method and size of the cut.
Step 3
Place the chopped potatoes in a deep bowl and cover with cold water to remove excess starch. Let them soak for 30 to 40 minutes.
Step 4
Then pat dry thoroughly with paper towels.
Step 5
Chop the onion.
Step 6
In a heavy flat skillet, heat vegetable and butter over high heat.
Step 7
Lower the heat to medium-low and arrange the potatoes in one or at most two layers. Fry without stirring for 5–7 minutes.
Step 8
Then stir gently and add the chopped onion.
Step 9
Fry for 15–20 minutes, trying to stir the potatoes as little and gently as possible to avoid breaking the pieces.
Step 10
Finally, add salt and pepper to taste. Serve.
