Description
For this recipe, both plum jam and mirabelle jam are suitable.
Ingredients
- Cod fillet 25 oz
- Turnips 2 pieces
- Onion 2 heads
- Wheat Flour 2 tablespoons
- Jam 2 tablespoons
- Passata Tomato Sauce 2 tablespoons
- Allspice berries 6 pieces
- Ground clove 4 pieces
- Cinnamon ½ piece
- Grated Ginger Root ½ teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
- Salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Mix the flour with 1 teaspoon of salt (level) and 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper.
Step 3
Coat the processed cod fillet in the flour mixture on both sides.
Step 4
Fry the fish on both sides for 1 minute over high heat, then place it in a saucepan.
Step 5
Finely chop the onion.
Step 6
Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
Step 7
Sauté the onion in vegetable oil until translucent.
Step 8
Add the carrots, stir, and fry for 5 minutes.
Step 9
Dilute the tomato paste with a small amount of water.
Step 10
Add the diluted tomato paste to the carrots and onions, stir, and simmer for 3 minutes.
Step 11
Add the jam, salt, cinnamon, and spices, and mix well.
Step 12
Pour in 100–150 ml of water and simmer until the carrots and onions are cooked.
Step 13
Pour the boiling marinade over the fish in the saucepan.
Step 14
Bring to a boil, boil for 2 minutes, then turn off the heat and let it steep for 30 minutes.
Step 15
Serve the hot cod as a main dish with rice or mashed potatoes, or serve it cold as an appetizer.
