Description
Fish and chips is one of the main recipes gifted to humanity by England. Chips refer to French fries there. We fried the fish in beer batter, as many do in Britain: it’s tastier that way.
Ingredients
- Cod fillet 30 oz
- Potato 6 pieces
- Dark Ale 10 fl oz
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Sugar 0 oz
- Dry yeast 0 oz
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable Oil 0 qt
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Cut the fish into portion-sized pieces.
Step 3
To make the batter, mix flour, yeast, salt, sugar, and beer until smooth, and let it sit in a warm place for 10 minutes. Then, refrigerate.
Step 4
Peel the potatoes and cut them into sticks. Remove excess moisture using a paper towel.
Step 5
Heat the oil to 250°F, fry the potatoes in it, and place them on paper towels.
Step 6
Heat the oil to 355°F.
Step 7
Dip the fish pieces in the batter.
Step 8
Sear the fish until it forms a golden crust. Then, fry the potatoes a second time until they are golden brown.
Step 9
Remove excess oil from the fish and potatoes using paper towels.
Step 10
Place the fish and potatoes on a plate, and season the potatoes with salt and pepper to taste.
