Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

To prepare Eastern-style liver, you will need: beef liver, sunflower oil, onion, honey, starch, tomato paste, soy sauce, garlic, salt, and ground black pepper.

Step 2

We wash the beef liver and remove the membrane.

Step 3

Cut the liver into large pieces and remove any ducts, if present. I had a clean piece of liver.

Step 4

Then cut into strips approximately 6–7 centimeters long and 2–2.5 centimeters wide.

Step 5

Place the chopped liver in a bowl and sprinkle with cornstarch.

Step 6

Mix the beef liver with cornstarch.

Step 7

Peel, wash, and slice the onion into half rings. You will need one large onion.

Step 8

Pour sunflower oil into the skillet and add the chopped onion. Sauté until translucent.

Step 9

Place the pieces of liver coated in starch on top of the fried onions.

Step 10

Sauté the beef liver with onions covered on the lowest heat for 10–15 minutes. In fact, we are not frying it, but rather braising it.

Step 11

In a bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, and tomato paste. Mix the tomato paste with the honey and soy sauce. Add a little warm water.

Step 12

Pour the mixture of tomato paste, honey, soy sauce, and water over the liver in the skillet. Cover with a lid and simmer on the lowest heat for another 15 minutes.

Step 13

Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 14

Finely chop the garlic using any available method and add it to the finished dish.
