Ingredients

  • Potato 0 lbs
  • Chicken Egg 1 piece
  • Milk 1 glass
  • Hard Cheese 5 oz
  • Garlic 1 clove
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Select large, undamaged potatoes of approximately the same size, wash them thoroughly, peel, and slice into 2 mm thick rounds. Grate the cheese using a coarse grater.

Step 2

Mix three quarters of the cheese in a bowl with milk and egg. Add ground nutmeg, freshly ground black pepper, and seasoning. Stir thoroughly while lightly whisking. Peel the garlic and cut it in half lengthwise. Rub the baking dish for the potatoes generously with the garlic, then grease it with butter.

Step 3

Preheat the oven to 390°F. Arrange the potatoes in a circular pattern in the baking dish, overlapping each slice slightly (it’s easier to start from the center and work towards the edges). Pour the cheese mixture over the potatoes. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and place small pieces of butter on top. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 45 minutes.

Step 4

Serve hot, garnished with finely chopped green onions, fried rings of onion, or crispy strips of bacon.
