Ingredients
- Green Lentils 10 oz
- Fenugreek Seeds 0 oz
- Onion 5 oz
- Carrot 5 oz
- Tomatoes 5 oz
- Garlic 4 cloves
- Chili Pepper 1 piece
- Bay leaves 3 pieces
- Ghee 1 tablespoon
- Green Onion to taste
- Cilantro to taste
- Indian Naan Bread 2 pieces
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Rinse the lentils under cold water and soak for an hour.
Step 2
In a heavy-bottomed pot, add the ghee.
Step 3
Add the chopped onion and crushed garlic, sauté for a few minutes.
Step 4
Add the fenugreek and sauté with the vegetables for another minute.
Step 5
Add the diced carrot and tomatoes, lentils, and pour in 450 ml of cold water.
Step 6
Add the finely chopped chili pepper, bay leaves, and salt.
Step 7
Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover tightly, and simmer for 45 minutes — the lentils should be soft.
Step 8
Serve with green onion, cilantro, and bread.
