Description

Recipe from a book by John Smith, 'Cooking Like in Anime: Recipes for True Otaku!'.

Ingredients

  • Gyoza dough 16 pieces
  • Onion 1 head
  • Garlic 2 cloves
  • Grated Ginger Root 0 oz
  • Scallions ½ bunch
  • Bamboo shoots 0 oz
  • Peeled Cooked Shrimp 5 oz
  • Ground meat 5 oz
  • Salt ½ teaspoon
  • Ground Black Pepper 2 teaspoons
  • Soy Sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Black sesame seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Apple Wine 1 tablespoon
  • Potato protein 0 oz
  • Frozen green bean pods 16 pieces
  • Olive Oil to taste
  • Rice Vinegar for Sushi to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Prepare the filling: peel and finely chop the onion and garlic.

Step 2

Peel the ginger and finely chop it.

Step 3

Wash and chop the green onion. Rinse and dry the bamboo shoots, then cut them into large pieces.

Step 4

Chop the shrimp.

Step 5

Place all the ingredients in a bowl. Add the ground meat, salt, pepper, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, and potato starch. Mix thoroughly for a few minutes to achieve a homogeneous aromatic mixture. Set aside.

Step 6

Pour water into a pot, add salt, bring to a boil, and add 16 peas for 3 minutes. Once they are ready, remove them with a slotted spoon and immediately place them in a bowl of cold water, then dry. Set aside.

Step 7

Take a pot that fits your steamer, pour water into it, and bring to a boil.

Step 8

Prepare the steamer: lightly grease it with olive oil to prevent the dumplings from sticking, and place it on top of the pot.

Step 9

Fill the dumpling dough with the filling: place one circle of dough on the kitchen counter and lightly moisten it with water. Place 1 full teaspoon of filling in the center. Raise the edges of the dough, pulling them around the filling, and seal tightly. Repeat the process with the remaining dumplings.

Step 10

Place the dumplings in the steamer, cover with a lid, and steam for 10 minutes.

Step 11

Top each dumpling with a pea and serve hot with a small amount of black rice vinegar.
