Chili Non Carne
Main Dishes • American
Description
This is a vegetarian version of the famous Chili con carne, prepared without meat. If desired, beef can be added, although it can also be replaced with soy meat, previously soaked in warm water.
Ingredients
- Mild Chili Spice 2 pieces
- Orange Bell Peppers 1 piece
- Onion 1 head
- Garlic 3 cloves
- Crushed Tomatoes in Their Own Juice 1 can
- Red Canned Beans 1 can
- Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon
- Mild Chili Spice 1 teaspoon
- Oregano 1 teaspoon
- Black Cumin (Cumin) 1 teaspoon
- Cocoa Powder 1 tablespoon
- Salt 0 oz
- Brown Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Lime 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Heat vegetable oil in the bottom of a pot; I used olive oil. Meanwhile, peel and wash the vegetables. Finely chop the onion, bell pepper (I used green), chili peppers, and garlic. Add the onion to the oil and sauté until translucent. Then add the other vegetables and sauté for 2–3 minutes.
Step 2
Mix the ground chili pepper, oregano, and cumin; you can crush them. Add to the vegetables, reduce the heat, and simmer for about 3–4 minutes.
Step 3
Chop the canned tomatoes (preferably in their own juice without salt and vinegar) and pour them over the vegetables. Add salt, sugar, and simmer for about 20 minutes.
Step 4
Then add the beans and the juice of half a lime, stir. Simmer for another 30 minutes.
Step 5
Five minutes before it's done, add the cocoa.
