Chicken with star anise and braised onions
Ingredients
- Star anise 12 pieces
- Chicken Drumstick 2 pieces
- Olive Oil 5 fl oz
- Gingerbread-flavored syrup 0 fl oz
- Rice Sweet Wine 0 fl oz
- Onion 20 oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Heat 50 ml of olive oil together with sugar syrup, a star anise, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the chicken thighs and place them in the refrigerator.
Step 2
After four hours, remove from the container, place on a baking sheet, and put in the oven preheated to 355°F for forty minutes.
Step 3
Meanwhile, slice the onion into thin half-rings. In a skillet, heat the remaining olive oil over low heat along with the star anise. Slowly caramelize the onion in this star anise-infused oil for about half an hour, stirring constantly and occasionally adding a few drops of wine and water. Season the onions with salt and pepper once they reach a caramelized state. Serve with chicken.
