
Chicken Paprikash

Description
A traditional Hungarian dish that was once made with adult chickens to ensure a richer and heartier broth. Nowadays, both beef and lamb are also used as a base. The two constant ingredients remain sour cream and, of course, paprika.
Ingredients
- Poultry 1 piece
- Wheat Flour 3 spoons
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Paprika 4 spoons
- Onion 1 piece
- Orange Bell Peppers 1 piece
- Garlic 3 cloves
- Chicken Broth 15 fl oz
- Sour Cream 0 oz
- Passata Tomato Sauce 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut the chicken into small pieces.
Step 2
Mix 2 tablespoons of flour, a pinch of salt, and pepper, then dust the chicken pieces with this mixture.
Step 3
In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil and butter.
Step 4
Sauté the chicken pieces until golden brown, then transfer them to a clean dish for the time being.
Step 5
In the same pot, sauté the chopped onion until translucent, adding a little vegetable oil.
Step 6
Then add the diced bell pepper, minced garlic, and paprika. Sauté, stirring, for 3 minutes.
Step 7
Add the tomato paste, pour in the broth, and stir.
Step 8
Return the chicken to the pot, cover with a lid, and cook on low heat for 25 minutes.
Step 9
Mix the sour cream, a tablespoon of flour, and a little broth from the pot, then pour this mixture back into the pot. Season with salt and pepper to taste and cook, covered, for another 10 minutes.
Step 10
Serve with homemade noodles or dumplings.
