Chicken in Sweet and Sour Sauce "Yin Yang"
Ingredients
- Orange Bell Peppers 3 pieces
- Skin-On Chicken Breasts 25 oz
- Canned Pineapple Chunks 1 can
- Soy Sauce 5 fl oz
- Vegetable Oil 10 fl oz
- Potato protein 5 oz
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Passata Tomato Sauce 0 oz
- Apple Cider Vinegar 3 tablespoons
- Honey 3 tablespoons
- Grated Ginger Root 0 oz
- Egg white 2 pieces
- Salt to taste
- Water 15 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut the chicken into small pieces. Place it in a deep bowl and pour soy sauce over it so that it slightly covers the chicken fillet. Let the chicken marinate for half an hour.
Step 2
Add 1 tablespoon of starch and 1 tablespoon of flour to the chicken. Mix thoroughly so that all pieces are evenly coated with the resulting mixture.
Step 3
Batter: separate the egg whites from the yolks, beat until light foam forms, mix flour, starch, and a pinch of salt in a bowl, and add the beaten egg whites. The batter should not be too thick; it should have the consistency of pancake batter.
Step 4
Heat oil in a frying pan (or deep fryer). You need to pour enough oil into the pan to cover the chicken pieces. If you have a deep fryer, you can use it to fry the chicken. Dip the meat in the batter and place it in the hot oil in small batches, frying for 3–5 minutes while constantly turning. Place the fried chicken pieces on a dry, clean plate to drain. You can place a couple of paper towels at the bottom of the plate.
Step 5
Now we can start preparing the sweet and sour sauce. Pour a little oil into the pan and heat it. Clean the bell pepper, cut it into large pieces, and sauté it in the pan, stirring constantly. (You can add zucchini.) Do this for a minute or two. The pepper should not be overly soft.
Step 6
Add the peeled and grated ginger root, apple cider vinegar, 500 ml of boiled water, and pineapple pieces to the peppers. Add 3 tablespoons of honey. Mix everything thoroughly. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
Step 7
Add the tomato paste and a tablespoon of starch to thicken the sauce. Mix well. The sauce is ready. Now it's time to add the chicken.
Step 8
Add the chicken and gently mix everything in the pan so that the chicken absorbs the sauce. After that, you can lower the heat, cover the dish with a lid, and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
