Chicken in Sweet and Sour Sauce with Pineapple

Ingredients

  • Salt ½ teaspoon
  • Skin-On Chicken Breasts 3 pieces
  • Egg white 1 piece
  • Soy Sauce ½ teaspoon
  • Vegetable Oil 1 cup
  • Rice Vinegar for Sushi 3 tablespoons
  • Sugar ½ cup
  • Peach Juice 0 fl oz
  • Ketchup ¼ cup
  • TABASCO® ⅓ teaspoon
  • Worcestershire Sauce 1 teaspoon
  • Corn Starch 2 tablespoons
  • Water 2 tablespoons
  • Rice 10 oz
  • Orange Bell Peppers 1 piece
  • Scallions 2 stalks
  • Toasted Sesame 1 teaspoon
  • Canned Pineapple Chunks 1 piece

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Heat the vegetable oil until very hot.

Step 2

Cut the chicken into 2x2 cm pieces, mix in a bowl with soy sauce, egg, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Fry in the oil until browned. Remove with a slotted spoon, place on a paper towel, and let the excess oil drain. Discard the oil from the pan as it will not be needed anymore.

Step 3

In a bowl, mix vinegar, sugar, pineapple juice, ketchup, TABASCO, and Worcestershire sauce.

Step 4

Place the pan on the heat, pour in the prepared mixture, and bring to a boil over the lowest heat.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, mix water and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.

Step 6

Add the cornstarch mixture to the pan, stir immediately, and add the chicken, pineapple, and bell pepper. Mix well again and heat for about 5 minutes.

Step 7

Serve with rice, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
