Chicken Drumsticks with Plums
Main Dishes • European
Description
A simple yet unexpected way to roast chicken drumsticks. The recipe is divided into three stages: first, the chicken is heated with oil, salt, and pepper; then ginger and chili pepper are added; finally, the drumsticks will spend the last 15 minutes under a layer of plums—their sweet and sour flavor perfectly complements the taste of the bird. If you remove the seeds and white veins from the chili, it will be less spicy.

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a bowl, mix the chicken drumsticks with oil, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Arrange them on a baking sheet and place in an oven preheated to 390°F for twenty-five minutes.
Step 2
Chop the chili, roughly chop the garlic cloves, and finely mince the ginger. Sprinkle this mixture over the chicken and return it to the oven for another ten minutes.
Step 3
Cut the plums in half and remove the pits. Take the baking tray out again, place the plums on it, and return it to the oven for another fifteen minutes. Serve the cooked drumsticks with mashed potatoes or plain boiled rice, according to your preference. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
