Chicken and Potato Chakhokhbili
Ingredients
- Poultry 20 oz
- Salad Potatoes 20 oz
- Onion 2 heads
- Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Carrot 1 piece
- Salt to taste
- Passata Tomato Sauce 1 tablespoon
- Tkemali (plum sauce) 3 tablespoons
- Khmeli-suneli to taste
- Cilantro 1 bunch
- Water 15 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut the chicken into small pieces.
Step 2
Slice the onion into half-rings.
Step 3
In a heavy-bottomed pot, melt the butter and add the vegetable oil.
Step 4
Add the onion and sauté until translucent.
Step 5
Grate the carrot on a coarse grater.
Step 6
Add the grated carrot to the onion and mix.
Step 7
Add the chicken to the pot and sauté for 5–7 minutes.
Step 8
Pour in the water, cover with a lid, and simmer for 30 minutes on low heat.
Step 9
Cut the potatoes into large cubes and add them to the meat.
Step 10
Add salt to taste.
Step 11
Stir in the tomato paste.
Step 12
Pour in the tkemali sauce.
Step 13
Add khmeli-suneli.
Step 14
Chop the cilantro and add it to the broth.
