Description

Cauliflower in Béchamel Sauce

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour 2 tablespoons
  • Cauliflower to taste
  • Vegetable Oil 3 tablespoons
  • Milk 0 qt
  • 20% Sour Cream 5 oz
  • Cheese Spread to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Nutmeg to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Boil the cauliflower in salted water.

Step 2

Heat a deep skillet with vegetable oil, add the flour, and sauté the flour for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Step 3

Then, reduce the heat and gradually add the milk, stirring quickly.

Step 4

At first, it will form dry crumbs; add more milk and stir.

Step 5

Repeat this until a sauce similar to sour cream starts to form.

Step 6

During this time, keep the skillet on low heat.

Step 7

Then add the sour cream, season with salt and pepper. Add a pinch of nutmeg, and remove from heat (the entire sauce preparation takes about 10–15 minutes).

Step 8

Place the boiled cauliflower, separated into florets, in a baking dish (ceramic or glass), pour the sauce over it, sprinkle with a thick layer of grated cheese, and place in a preheated oven until the cheese melts and turns a beautiful golden color.
