Description
Cauliflower Gratin
Ingredients
- Milk 0 qt
- Cauliflower 2 pieces
- Cream 5 fl oz
- Garlic 6 cloves
- Gruyère cheese 5 oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Nutmeg to taste
- Salt to taste
- White Pepper (whole) to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Break the cabbage into more or less equal florets. Mix equal parts of milk and water, season the mixture with a pinch of salt, and place it over heat. When the mixture comes to a boil, add the cabbage florets and cook for ten minutes.
Step 2
Grate the cheese. Mix half of the grated cheese with the cream, finely chopped garlic, nutmeg, and white ground pepper. White pepper is ideal here as it won't spoil the creamy color scheme.
Step 3
Drain the water from the cauliflower, grease the bottom of a baking dish with butter, place the cauliflower in the dish, and pour the mixture of cream and cheese over it. Put the baking dish with the cauliflower in the oven preheated to 390°F for ten minutes.
Step 4
Then remove the baking tray, sprinkle the cabbage with the remaining cheese, and return it to the oven for another five minutes.
