Description
Canadian Poutine
Ingredients
- Salad Potatoes 6 pieces
- Chicken Thighs 4 pieces
- Melted Cheese 5 oz
- Chicken Broth 25 fl oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Vegetable Oil 0 qt
- Wheat Flour 3 tablespoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin, long strips. Do not use pre-made frozen potatoes for this recipe.
Step 2
Rinse the potato slices under running water and soak them in water, then place them in the refrigerator while preparing the chicken.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Rub the chicken thighs with a mixture of salt and pepper, place them on a baking sheet or in a dish. You can add sausages or hot dogs that are not needed in the dish, but will give the thighs and sauce a special flavor. (I did not add them)
Step 4
Bake the thighs for about 45 minutes, until fully cooked. Remove from the dish and let cool.
Step 5
Place the dish with the juices released during baking on the stove over medium heat and add half of the prepared broth (I made mine from cubes). When it boils, add the flour and stir constantly to prevent burning.
Step 6
After a couple of minutes, gradually pour in the remaining broth while stirring.
Step 7
Reduce the heat to low and cook the thickening sauce for another 5-10 minutes (until smooth and ready). Strain it.
Step 8
Remove the skin and bones from the cooled thighs, shred the meat, and mix it into the sauce. This sauce can be prepared in advance, even a day ahead, and then simply reheated.
Step 9
Now it's time to fry the French fries. Fry in small batches until they reach your desired crispiness.
Step 10
Place the fries on plates, sprinkle with cheese curds, and drizzle with sauce. Enjoy your meal!
