Ingredients

  • White Cabbage 1 head
  • Onion ¼ head
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
  • Malt Vinegar 0 fl oz
  • Carrot ½ piece
  • Pearl barley 15 oz
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Clean the cabbage from the outer leaves and chop it coarsely. Chop the carrot.

Step 2

Heat a pan with sunflower oil. Chop the onion and sauté it. Add the carrot, sauté, then add the cabbage without breaking it into pieces. Add a little water, sugar, and vinegar. Cover with a lid and reduce the heat to minimum.

Step 3

Cook the barley until ¾ done in salted water. Add to the vegetables and cover again.
