
Bulgarian Rice with Onions

Description
Bulgarian rice can be cooked over low heat in a regular pot with a thick bottom.
Ingredients
- Rice 1 cup
- Water 1 cup
- Onion 1 head
- Salt a pinch
- Butter 1 tablespoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 390°F.
Step 2
Finely chop a large onion.
Step 3
In the dish where we will cook the rice, place it over low heat, melt the butter, and sauté the onion.
Step 4
Add the rice and lightly sauté (until the rice is coated in butter and turns golden). Optionally, add salt.
Step 5
Pour water over the rice (1:1), tightly cover the dish with foil, and place it in the oven for 20–30 minutes.
Step 6
It makes an excellent standalone dish, but it can also be used as a side dish for meat, chicken, fish, or vegetables.
