Brussels Sprouts Westphalian Style
Ingredients
- Brussels Sprouts 20 oz
- Sausages 4 pieces
- Butter 2 tablespoons
- Egg white 1 piece
- Wheat Flour 1 tablespoon
- Milk 10 fl oz
- Nutmeg to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Place the Brussels sprouts in salted water and boil for 15 minutes, covered. Cut the sausages into small pieces. Drain the broth, measuring out 1/4 of it.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 430°F. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté the flour. Gradually add the milk and broth to make a sauce, stirring and cooking for 5 minutes. Then remove from heat, add the egg, nutmeg, sugar, and salt.
Step 3
Layer the Brussels sprouts with sausage slices in a baking dish, pour the sauce over them. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
