Description

The combination of broccoli and shrimp may seem controversial at first, but they can easily be paired together with a caramelized, thick, and rich dressing made with ginger, lime, fish sauce, and soy sauce. The shrimp cook quickly, in just a couple of minutes, allowing the broccoli to maintain its color and texture. If you add rice or noodles to the dish, you’ll have a beautiful, complete Asian-style dinner.

Ingredients

  • Broccoli 2 heads
  • Peeled Cooked Shrimp 20 oz
  • Mild Chili Spice 2 pieces
  • Grated Ginger Root 0 oz
  • Garlic 4 cloves
  • Lime 3 pieces
  • Soy Sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Fish Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame Oil 0 fl oz
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Cilantro 0 oz
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Spanish onions 2 heads

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Break the broccoli into florets and boil in salted boiling water for four minutes, then cool it down using cold water or ice.

Step 2

Slice the red onion into half-rings, finely chop the garlic, and sauté them in hot sesame oil for one minute.

Step 3

Add sugar, soy sauce, and fish sauce, and simmer for another minute or two. Then, stir in the sliced chili pepper (remove the seeds from the pepper pods beforehand) and finely chopped ginger.

Step 4

Add the shrimp and broccoli to the pan with the onions, stir, and sauté for two minutes (if using frozen shrimp, it will take longer for them to thaw). Season with pepper and salt if needed, then dress with lime juice and zest, along with chopped cilantro.
