Main Dishes • Romanian
Description
Braised pork served with a savory onion and cider sauce.
Ingredients
- Cooked Ham 20 oz
- Chicken Broth 5 fl oz
- Spanish onions 4 heads
- Garlic 8 cloves
- Corn Flour for Polenta 1 tablespoon
- Cider 5 fl oz
- Parsley 0 oz
- Butter 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Sauté the sliced onions in butter until they become soft. Once the onions are soft, add the finely chopped garlic. Cook the garlic with the onions for a minute or two, then pour in the cider and vegetable broth. Simmer on high heat for five to seven minutes, stirring constantly.
Step 2
Reduce the heat significantly and thicken the onion sauce with corn flour mixed with a small amount of warm water: for each tablespoon of flour, use one tablespoon of water. The flour and water mixture is added to the sauce and whisked in.
Step 3
After mixing the sauce with the flour, sauté the onions for another minute or two, while grilling the pork loin cut into thick slices. Stir the sauce with finely chopped parsley, season with salt if the broth is not salty enough, and serve it alongside the grilled meat. And with chilled cider.
