Braised Beef with Rum and Anise

Ingredients

  • Star anise 1 teaspoon
  • Beef 25 oz
  • Onion 2 heads
  • Fresh basil leaves 2 teaspoons
  • Vegetable Oil 3 tablespoons
  • Cilantro 1 tablespoon
  • Dark rum 2 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Cook in a deep pot.

Step 2

Slice the onion into half rings. Heat the oil and add the onion. Sauté until golden brown.

Step 3

Cut the meat into cubes. Once the onion is golden, add the meat to the pot. Sear for 5–10 minutes.

Step 4

Then add the cilantro, basil, and anise. Mix well and add the rum. Then pour in 350 ml of boiling water. Cover with a lid and simmer for 30 minutes.

Step 5

Stir, reduce to low heat, and simmer covered for another 50 minutes.
