Bohemian Stewed Cabbage
Ingredients
- White Cabbage 5 lbs
- Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
- Onion 5 oz
- Salt 2 teaspoons
- Ground Black Pepper ½ teaspoon
- Sugar 3 teaspoons
- Coriander essential oil 1 teaspoon
- Wheat Flour 3 teaspoons
- Bacon 5 oz
- Lemon ½ piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Peel, wash, and finely chop 200 grams of onion into small cubes. Cut 100 grams of smoked bacon into small pieces. Thinly shred 2 kilograms of cabbage.
Step 2
In a deep skillet or a heavy-bottomed pot, heat 60 ml of vegetable oil, add the bacon and onion, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
Step 3
Add the shredded cabbage, mix well, cover with a lid, and simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally for about 30 minutes.
Step 4
After 30 minutes, add 2 teaspoons of salt, ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon of slightly crushed coriander seeds, 3 teaspoons of sugar, and the juice of half a lemon.
Step 5
Add 3 teaspoons of flour and mix everything well. Cover with a lid and let it simmer on low heat for 7–10 minutes.
Step 6
Transfer the finished cabbage to a deep dish and serve as a standalone dish or as a side dish to meat.
