  • Ground meat 20 oz
  • Onion 1 head
  • Tomatoes 1 piece
  • Milk 0 fl oz
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese 5 oz
  • Vegetable Oil to taste
  • Chicken Egg 1 piece
  • Salt to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Wash the potatoes, peel them, cover with water, and place on the heat to cook for mashed potatoes. Add salt to taste. Boil until fully cooked. Drain the water, mash the potatoes, and add milk and butter. Whip everything together until light and fluffy.

Step 2

Grind the meat with the onion using a meat grinder, season with salt, add the crushed tomato, and sauté in vegetable oil until cooked through. Grate the cheese and transfer it to a separate plate.

Step 3

Spread the cooled mashed potatoes evenly at the bottom of a greased baking dish, then layer on the sautéed minced meat, sprinkle with grated cheese, and top the filling with another layer of mashed potatoes.

Step 4

Crack an egg into a small bowl, beat it, and brush it over the casserole.

Step 5

Place the casserole in a preheated oven at 355°F for 30 minutes.

Step 6

You can serve it with sour cream and herbs (optional).
