Beef Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
Main Dishes • Italian
Description
A simple yet genius dish: the tomato sauce easily penetrates the porous texture of the meatballs, infusing them with its aromas and juices. These meatballs can be a main course with any side dish, whether it's mashed potatoes, rice, buckwheat, or cauliflower steak. However, we prefer to enjoy them on their own, dipping pieces of toasted wheat bread into the sauce. And don’t forget to sprinkle the finished meatballs with cheese — it will melt and make the dish even more interesting.

- Onion 1 head
- Garlic 2 cloves
- Parsley 2 sprigs
- Rosemary 1 sprig

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Combine the minced meat with the breadcrumbs. Add salt, pepper, cinnamon, and the egg yolk. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Shape the ground meat into meatballs the size of quail eggs.
Step 4
Finely chop the onion and garlic.
Step 5
Sauté them in olive oil until they become fragrant and golden brown.
Step 6
Add the crushed tomatoes in their own juice to the skillet. Stir in the finely chopped parsley, basil, and rosemary.
Step 7
Submerge the meatballs in the boiling sauce and simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes. If the sauce reduces too much, add water or broth.
Step 8
Place the cooked meatballs on a plate along with the sauce.
Step 9
Sprinkle with Parmesan and garnish with parsley.
Step 10
Serve with toasted bread, which should be dipped in the sauce.
