Description

Spaghetti squash is an unusual type of squash that, when cooked, forms strands similar to the pasta of the same name. The squash itself looks quite unremarkable and can easily be confused with a regular zucchini from the garden, but it can be identified as squash by its thick skin.

Ingredients

  • Butter to taste
  • Spaghetti Squash 1 piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Spices to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Cut the squash in half lengthwise using a large knife.

Step 2

Remove the seeds and discard them, they will not be needed.

Step 3

Rub the inside of the squash with spices and salt, and place a few pieces of butter (you can also use olive or vegetable oil) depending on the size of the squash.

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 375°F (375 degrees Fahrenheit). Place the squash halves on a baking sheet. Bake the squash in the oven for about 45-50 minutes, until a fork easily pierces the squash. If the dish starts to dry out, add more oil.

Step 5

Remove the squash from the oven and let it cool for 3-4 minutes. Then scrape the flesh of the squash with a fork to create noodle-like strands; you can leave it in the squash skin bowl instead of transferring it to a plate. Add cheese, dried garlic, and a little flavored olive oil. The spaghetti squash is ready to serve.
