- Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon
- Bacon 8 pieces
- Onion ½ heads
- Habanero Pepper 1 piece
- Garlic 3 cloves
- Ketchup 1 glass
- Brown Sugar ½ glasses
- Honey 5 oz
- Cider ½ glasses
- Apple Cider Vinegar 1 tablespoon
- Grated Ginger Root 1 tablespoon
- English Dry Mustard 1 tablespoon
- Worcestershire Sauce 1 tablespoon
- Canned Baby Beets 10 oz
- Canned Pork with Beans 30 oz
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 300°F.
Step 3
In a large oven-safe pot, heat vegetable oil over high heat. Add 4 slices of bacon and cook until crispy.
Step 4
Transfer the bacon to a paper towel to remove excess fat. Repeat with the remaining bacon.
Step 5
Remove half of the bacon fat from the pot, then add the onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
Step 6
Add the diced jalapeño and minced garlic, and cook for another minute.
Step 7
Then add ketchup, sugar, honey, cider, apple cider vinegar, ginger, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, and mix well.
Step 8
Return the bacon to the pot, stir, and bring to a boil over low heat.
Step 9
Add the beans and gently stir.
Step 10
Place the uncovered pot in the oven for 40–50 minutes to thicken the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
