Description

Spices for stewed potatoes, garlic, basil. There was no need to add salt. It's better not to substitute ham with bacon, as bacon dries out too quickly and then shrivels. Creamy milk has a richer flavor than regular milk. However, it can be replaced with 10% cream.

Ingredients

  • Salad Potatoes 20 oz
  • Ham 10 oz
  • Sour Cream 5 tablespoons
  • Spanish onions ½ head
  • Milk 5 fl oz
  • Spices to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Wash the potatoes and slice them very thinly. The thicker they are, the prettier they will look. Leave them to dry slightly.

Step 2

Meanwhile, slice the ham very thinly into large pieces (rounds or rectangles). Also, slice the onion into large thin rings.

Step 3

Generously grease a baking dish with butter.

Step 4

Layer the potatoes, onions, and ham, sprinkling spices in between. Then, place a large spoonful of sour cream in the center. Repeat with another layer of potatoes, onions, and ham, and place 4 tablespoons of sour cream in the corners. Sprinkle spices again. The top layer should consist of potatoes and ham. The onion will burn, so it should not be on top.

Step 5

Carefully pour the milk over the layers, cover with foil.

Step 6

Bake in an oven preheated to 390°F for about 40–45 minutes. Towards the end, you can remove the foil.
